Here is an interesting read from the Wall Street Journal in regards to an increase in demand for the FDA to strengthen its safety reporting requirements:
This is an interesting article that has me wondering what the repercussions will be once the FDA tightens its requirements. I assume that many products we find as harmless will all of a sudden take on a new rating. My concern is, what will the extent be? Will it get a little out of control? It is not uncommon for political decisions (that make sense for the most part) to have an impractical outcome on the public.
This article also reminds me of potential loop holes that exist and may no longer exist after these future modifications. It is clear as large drug companies provide the money and power, loop holes are taken advantage of, but it will be interesting to see if tighter regulations will have an effect on these companies' ability to utilize their power for personal gain.
